Star Wars Episode VII: Has Matthew Vaughn just been confirmed to direct?

By Daniel Wolf

Not often does a website put together a theory post and then it comes true but it sounds like The Daily SuperHero may have done this with speculating who the director of Star Wars Episode VII would be, back at the start of November. But first, let's talk about why director Matthew Vaughn has potentially been confirmed to be Episode VII's director.

[RELATED: Is the director of Star Wars: Episode VII going to be Matthew Vaughn since he suddenly left X-Men: Days of Future Past?]

In a recent interview, actor Jason Flemying (Azezal in X-Men: First Class) might have just slipped up and said Vaughn is the guy.

"Me and Matt have done nine films together so I’m sure I’ll get the call for Star Wars," Flemying said to Hey U Guys blog. "But I’m sure it’s going to be ‘Flemyng, no, I know on paper it doesn’t look like much but I promise you it’s essential to the part.’ So we’ll see what happens with that.”

A follow-up question was asked if Matthew was interested in the next Star Wars movie and Flemyng said, “In what, Star Wars, I think..”

Flemyng then looked like someone who just said something he wasn't supposed to say by confirming an announcement that hasn’t been made yet. Flemyng tried to clean up his previous answer and said, “Uh, yeah, he’s interested, yeah about the deal.”

Nothing has been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm but if Vaughn did indeed leave X-Men: Days of Future Past to helm Star Wars Episode VII, The Daily SuperHero can safely say ... "CALLED IT!"
