SUPERGIRL Season 2 Episode 7 Review: The Darkest Place

Another great episode of SUPERGIRL. We finally get a look into Cadmus and what their operation is trying to accomplish, barely and the evil leader but also a glance into what is happening with Hank. Kara, Winn, James and Alex are all at the alien bar (their new hangout spot I suppose?) talking about the new vigilante Guardian. Of course all but Winn are obvious to the fact that James is the Guardian and are quick to throw it opinions. The Danvers sisters both share their distaste for vigilantes. Kara doesn't think they should trust him and Alex thinks he has a partner.

Guardian is out kicking ass and taking names, but apparently someone is trying to take it to another level. There's another masked vigilante who comes up behind him and takes out his criminals he already wrapped up tightly. This blows up at Catco with security footage that looks like the Guardian murdered the thug. James is desperate to get proof that the Guardian isn't the killer and Winn, uneasily, agrees they should set a trap.

Fun fact: Hank is a Tai Chi guy. Interesting. He uses this to bring him back to peace since he has been seeing his family. Kara tries to comfort him and suggest that it is probably because he found another Martian. Their moment is interrupted by The Guardian’s newest issue.

James goes as the Guardian to stop a drug deal and comes across the killer. The killer leaves but the Guardian is left in the crosshairs of the police. Where the heck did the other guy go? Into thin air? Before Supergirl can help the police find him,Cadmus sends her a message that they have Mon-El and to come alone or let him die. Supergirl gets there and is confronted by Hank. Yes the real Hank Henshaw. Not our soft-on-the-inside J’onn / Hank. He has now been experimented on and is crazy strong and goes by the name Cyborg Superman.

Back at the DEO, Winn asks Alex to try and Maggie to lay off the Guardian. With barely even a threat of pain, Winn spills his guts and tells him the true identity of the vigilante. Alex talks to Maggie and not only tells her to back of Guardian but rips her a new one for breaking her hurt after convincing her to come out. Winn and James find out the vigilante is a ex-SEAL who is killing people he thought got away with crimes on a technicality. They find his next victim before he is murdered too. James stops him and leaves as Maggie and Alex turn up to bring him in.

Kara and Mon-El are trapped in Cadmus where she finally comes in contact with the leader, Mama Luthor, aka Lillian. Apparently the root of her issue with aliens was because Superman put Lex behind bars. Talk about a sob story. Basically, Lillian wants Supergirl to expel a solar flare into a helmet to deplete the radiation in her cells, make her human. Even though Mon-El is strong, lead is weak point and they threaten to kill him. Supergirl becomes after expelling a solar flare and is taken. However, Cadmus only takes her blood before locking her back up.

Kara and Mon-El are having a heart to heart thinking they are about to die. Before Mon-El can reveal some secret about Daxam, they're rescued. It's back from the dead Jeremiah Danvers. Jeremiah helps get the bullet out of Mon-El’s leg. Jeremiah makes them leave without him. Alex goes to try and find Jeremiah after Kara and Mon-El escape but Cadmus is long gone.

When Hank / J’onn’s hallucinations get worse, he requests that he get tests done. Alex does her magic and finds that his blood work shows that his blood transfusion was with a White Martian. He confronts Megan who tries to explain she isn't trying to hurt him and wasn't like the rest of her crazy people. They fight but J’onn stops just before ending her and locks her up instead. However, she tells him that her blood is going to make him into a White Martian. Plot twist. But of course he is not going to accept this without a fight.

It turns out Cyborg Superman goes to the Fortress of Solitude, using Kara’s blood, accesses the Kryptonians database to get information on Project Medusa. Man these people love Greek Mythology names on evil plans .

Mon-El seems to be taken with Kara after she risks her life to save his.. James didn't seem to like that so much but Kara might do best if she had someone who was different than her. Still, we shall see for sure when he reveal his secret he has about Daxam he so conveniently forgot to share.

One of the best parts of the episode was the reunion between Kara and Jeremiah. His return renews the Jeremiah storyline and brings more questions into the mix. Is he enhanced too? What have they've doing to him? Is he allowed to just gallivant around Cadmus headquarters? I have a feeling there's a reason why he wouldn't leave with them. The Danvers family deserves at least one happy ending but we know we don't always get what we want.

Given Kara’s initial distrust of vigilantes, I wonder how she’ll feel when she meets ARROW on the epic 4-episode crossover, which starts next week!
