AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Becomes the Fastest Movie Ever to Reach $1 Billion Worldwide

Box Office Report: Step aside STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS... another record set by the 2015 film has been broken by AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. It took The Force Awakens 12 days to reach $1 billion in the worldwide box office. And Infinity War accomplished it in one less day, taking only 11 days to hit the $1 billion mark.

One record Infinity War did not take away from The Force Awakens is biggest second weekend total, domestically. In its second weekend, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR took in an estimated $112 million, making it the second biggest second weekend total of all-time; ahead of BLACK PANTHER and its $111 million, but behind STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and its $149 million.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is just the fifth movie to take in over $100 million during its second weekend of release joining: STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS ($149M), BLACK PANTHER ($111M), JURASSIC WORLD ($106M), and THE AVENGERS ($103M).

Infinity War now sits with $450 million, domestically, already placing it on Marvel Studios' top earner list at No. 4 right behind AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and its $459 million. This will be toppled in the next few days, but it is still far off from the $623 million THE AVENGERS took in in 2012. And the $690 million BLACK PANTHER has made.

Internationally, Infinity War brought in an estimated $162 million to bring its total to $713 million. All this already earned and it still has not opened in China (May 11), so look for a huge boost to its International earnings this upcoming weekend when it opens in the world's second largest box office market.

Globally, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR has already amassed $1.16 billion! This is the studios' sixth feature film to achieve $1B status and it has already made more in less than two weeks than the entire theatrical run of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, which took in $1.15 billion in 2016.

The sky is the limit as to how high Infinity War will go in the box office, but its window of making as much cash as possible is quickly coming to a close as the summer movie season kicks into high gear and competition becomes more fierce starting with the release of DEADPOOL 2 on May 18 here in the U.S.
