With Ben Affleck Being Uncertain About His Future as Batman, FLASHPOINT Could Reboot the Caped Crusader

It should surprise nobody who follows what Ben Affleck has been saying when it comes to his future at Batman because the actor sounds like he might be done with the role sooner than later. As long as it is a natural segue from him to a new actor who can don the cowl.

Since Warner Bros. revealed, last summer as San Diego Comic-Con, they were working on a FLASHPOINT movie (read: solo Flash movie) this seems like the most logical way to reboot Batman in the DCEU from Affleck to a new and younger actor. Batman Director Matthew Reeves is said to want to handpick his own choice as Batman, in his solo film he is currently developing, and if FLASHPOINT can make this happen it seems like it probably will.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Flash actor Ezra Miller confirmed his FLASHPOINT movie is moving in a positive direction as it is being developed right now. Also, DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns hinted how Batman will have a role in FLASHPOINT, too.

"There’s elements in ... [FLASHPOINT] ... that we’re going to be playing into that we couldn’t do anywhere else. The scale of it, the Batman story of it all."

Johns does not come out and say FLASHPOINT will reboot Batman from Affleck to another actor, but the implication is there and as long as Affleck continues to waver on his future as Batman. And connecting these dots using FLASHPOINT will not stop until Affleck is confirmed to be a part of it.

Since FLASHPOINT is currently in development, there is no release date set or a director attached to the project yet. Although seeing as how Miller was one of the best parts in JUSTICE LEAGUE, you can bet the studio is trying to fast-track FLASHPOINT to capitalize on the positive buzz Miller's performance is generating right now.
