X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX is Simon Kinberg's Directing Debut; Jessica Chastain in Villain Talks



Longtime X-Men producer and writer Simon Kinberg will make his directorial debut and helm X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, Deadline reports.

Kinberg's past Marvel movie writing credits include: X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and FANTASTIC FOUR (2015). He has produced the following mutant offerings: X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, DEADPOOL, FANTASTIC FOUR (2015), LOGAN and the television series LEGION.

According to this report the following actors will be returning to reprise their roles: Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey / Dark Phoenix), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler).

Also, actress Jessica Chastain is reportedly in talks to be the film's cosmic villain Shi'ar Empress Lilandra, who has powerful telepathic abilites. To read more about Lilandra on Marvel's character page, click right here.

X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX will film in Montreal and releases in the U.S. on November 2, 2018.
