Sony's Non-MCU Spider-Man Spin-Off Movie Universe Film SILVER SABLE AND BLACK CAT Lands a Director

Sony Pictures is building their own non-Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man spin-off movie universe starting with VENOM. Actor Tom Hardy will play Eddie Brock, but this film will not have anything to do with Sony and Marvel Studios' SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING movie. VENOM will be its own standalone film for Sony, who (for some reason) feel the need to create their own Spider-Man movie universe albeit without Spider-Man.

Sounds confusing... yes, and Venom really deserves better but Sony is doing Sony as best they can using their Spider-Man movie rights even if Spider-Man won't be a part of it. (Like I said... it's confusing and I personally don't like any of it.)

Anyway, Sony is also adding to their Spider-Man-won't-be-in-a-spin-off-movie-universe with another film called SILVER SABLE AND BLACK CAT. The film will feature Spider-Man characters Silver Sable and Black Cat. So you won't see these two characters appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe either. (BOO!)

According to THR, SILVER SABLE AND BLACK CAT has landed director Gina Prince-Bythewood, who will help to re-write the script that was recently re-written by Christopher Yost (THOR: THE DARK WORLD, THOR: RAGNAROK). Lisa Joy, who is the co-creator of HBO's WESTWORLD, worked on the script before Yost.

SILVER SABLE AND BLACK CAT does not have a release date set at the time this article was published.
