Sony's VENOM Movie Lands Actor Tom Hardy in Title Role and Signs on ZOMBIELAND Director

Sony Pictures is full steam ahead with their VENOM movie — which will have nothing to do with Tom Holland's Peter Parker / Spider-Man in any way. Repeat: There will be no connection of Venom to SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING or Marvel Studios' Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as it is confirmed VENOM will be a solo movie building-up Sony's own Marvel cinematic universe focusing on certain Spider-Man allies and villains. (Yes, a bit confusing.)

However, this news should get you excited for the alien symbiote as Sony has officially announced actor Tom Hardy, formerly Bane in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, will be the lead role as Eddie Brock.

Also, confirmed is that Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) will direct the film.

Again, VENOM will have no connection to SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING or the MCU, but should have a connection to Sony's other Marvel movie that is currently in development featuring Black Cat and Silver Sable.

Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will all be producers for VENOM and production begins this fall.
