NEW MUTANTS: Rosario Dawson in Talks For Mentor Role in X-Men Spin-Off Movie

Rosario Dawson must live by the motto "Make Mine Marvel" as the actress is moving to double-dip in Marvel roles. She is currently Claire Temple, who is a major connective piece in Marvel's Netflix shows.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter states Dawson is in talks to star in a mentor role for Fox's X-Men spin-off movie NEW MUTANTS. She will reportedly play the mutant Dr. Cecilia Reyes. Dr. Reyes' power is one of an involuntary force field whenever she feels threatened; however, she can use it aggressively even though she psionically feels whatever hits the force field as if she was actually being hit. Previously, it was rumored that actor James McAvoy would reprise his role as Charles Xavier and be in the mentor role for a bunch of teenagers learning to deal with their new powers. But Professor X is reportedly not in the script. Storm was also rumored and she's reportedly not in the film, either.

NEW MUTANTS is written by Josh Boone and Knate Lee to be a superhero and horror film directed by Boone. Actress Maisie Williams (GAME OF THRONES) will be the mutant Wolfsbane and actress Anya Taylor-Joy is Colossus' mutant sister Magik.

NEW MUTANTS begins filming this summer and releases in the U.S. on April 13, 2018.
