X-Men Spin-Off Movie NEW MUTANTS to be a Horror Movie

Writer and director Josh Boone spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming X-Men spin-off movie project, NEW MUTANTS. Set to begin filming in July, Boone's best friend and fellow filmmaker Knate Lee wrote the script together. Boone tells EW:

“We made a comic book with what our vision of the series would be. We love that Fox wants to make all these different X-Men spinoffs as drastically different as they can.”

Boone also confirmed to EW that NEW MUTANTS will be a PG-13 horror movie set within Fox's X-Men movie universe.

“We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe. There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different.”

Actress Maisie Williams (GAME OF THRONES) will be the mutant Wolfsbane and actress Anya Taylor-Joy is also confirmed as the mutant Magik. More casting announcements will be coming very soon. To read the full interview with Boone on EW, click right here.

NEW MUTANTS releases in the U.S. on April 13, 2018.
