DEADPOOL 2 Screenwriter Updates its Development

While DEADPOOL is currently enjoying some accolades and nominations this award season, its screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are busy working on the script for its sequel. Reese and Wernick spoke with Deadline and Reese gave the Hollywood news outlet an update on DEADPOOL 2.

"... it’ll be a solo movie. It’ll be populated with a lot of characters, but it is still Deadpool’s movie, this next one. We’re pushing forward very hard. I think by every account we will shoot it this year, and we’re on our multiple draft now. It’s taken different twists and turns, but it’s really coalescing, and we’re very, very excited."

Recent rumors claimed DEADPOOL 2 would begin filming in Vancouver as early as next month. But seeing as how Fox has yet to confirm an actual release date for the sequel, it seems like the studio is letting actor Ryan Reynolds, Reese, Wernick and director David Leitch have all the time they need to get the script perfect before principle photography begins. Not having to chase, and feel the pressure to meet, a pre-set release date before a script is ready is always a good thing.
