DEADPOOL 2: Small Budget Execution is a Big Reason Why Director David Leitch Was Hired

DEADPOOL 2 is not in trouble despite what some may think after director Tim Miller left the project due to "creative differences" with Reynolds, as well as allegedly wanting a huge budget for the sequel. Fox has since hired David Leitch to fill the director chair and his expertise in stunt direction and coordination is one of the biggest reasons he got the gig.

Actor and producer Ryan Reynolds spoke with Entertainment Weekly about other reasons why Leitch was brought on the helm the sequel.

“Everbody was just a fan of his work,” says Reynolds. “He’s just a guy who’s so muscular with his action. He also really understands those Deadpool sensibilities and where we need to take the franchise from here. And I love John Wick. One of the things that David Leitch does that very few filmmakers can do these days is they can make a movie on an ultra tight minimal budget look like it was shot for 10-15 times what it cost.”

Reynolds also confirmed the mutant Domino will be added to the cast along with fellow big screen newcomer Cable. To read the entire interview with Reynolds on EW, click right here.

DEADPOOL 2 is set to begin filming in Vancouver in early 2017.
