THOR: RAGNAROK Director Taika Waititi Confirms Loki and That There's a Role For Cate Blanchett

Actor Tom Hiddleston returning to his role of Loki in THOR: RAGNAROK should not surprise anyone. Especially since Mark Ruffalo inadvertently hinted at Loki's return in the movie a few weeks ago and it helps that THOR: THE DARK WORLD left some questions about Loki at the very end of the film.

While speaking with Wired, director Taika Waititi confirmed that producers, writers and himself are all currently scripting the movie and talking about Loki and where he fits into the film.

“At the moment, everyone’s trying to figure [Loki] out, like ‘What’s he going to do?' Everyone loves that character.”

In the same interview, Waititi also confirmed Cate Blanchett has a role in the movie but he did not disclose her role. Wired wrote the following:

"Rumors have been circulating for a while now that Cate Blanchett will be joining the MCU in Ragnarok. Ask Waititi, and you’ll get a long pause… then a 'Yes.' Really? 'Look, it’s so early I’m not sure exactly what the extent of it is, but it’s looking good... 'I can’t say anything. I’ve probably said way too much.'"

Blanchett has been rumored to be playing Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death, who teams up with Loki, in some capacity, against Thor and the Hulk.

THOR: RAGNAROK begins filming this summer in Australia and releases on November 3, 2017.
