Heimdall's Rumored Role in THOR: RAGNAROK

This post may contain spoilers for THOR: RAGNAROK. You've been warned.

Right now Marvel Studios is filming DOCTOR STRANGE in England and is ready to start filming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. But that's not it for film production this year as THOR: RAGNAROK begins filming this summer in Australia, the untitled SPIDER-MAN movie is rumored to start filming this summer and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR directors Anthony and Joe Russo have confirmed it will begin shooting at the end of this year in Atlanta, too.

Currently in pre-production, THOR: RAGNAROK has the rumor mill buzzing with potential plot points. The newest one making the rounds is from the rumor website Latino-Review who claims to know the role actor Idris Elba's Heimdall will play in the new Thor movie.

“According to LR’s sources about the developing THOR: RAGNAROK story, Hela will take Asgard and, Thor attempts to stop her. Hela lays the smackdown on the God of Thunder, destroying his hammer and straight up murdering Thor’s friend Heimdall (Idris Elba).
“But don’t worry, Elba won’t bow out of the MCU so easily. The final showdown with Hela will feature an army of the dead commanded by the villainess doing battle with good Valkyries from Valhalla and the souls of the righteous fallen, including Heimdall.”

This does fall in-line with previous plot rumors regarding Hela — who might be portrayed by Cate Blanchett — but this is the first we've heard about Heimdall's role in Ragnarok. And it sounds like Marvel Studios may be closing out his story arc but in a very glorious way... if true, of course.

THOR: RAGNAROK releases on November 3, 2017.
