ANT-MAN: Hope van Dyne is the New Female Face of Marvel Studios But She Won't be in CIVIL WAR

This post contains spoilers for ANT-MAN.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been talking about Hope van Dyne (played by actor Evangeline Lilly) a lot lately. Since you've seen ANT-MAN you already know her role is about to become much bigger now that Hank Pym has presented her with a new Wasp suit he has had in storage.

Nowadays there is a very big push for more female heroes in comic book and super hero movies. According to SlashFilm, Feige said having Wasp become a bigger part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was not a response to the need for more female heroes, but it kind of became one on its own anyway.

“It was not an intentional thing, it was scripted as something we hoped that Hope would say. When she delivered it and we were cutting it together in dailies I went ‘Oh my god, she’s not just speaking for Hope, she’s speaking for this entire community thats asking for these things.’ And I just thought it was awesome. We shot versions where she didn’t have a line. So in that regards, sure, I think it took on a bigger meaning as we approached the release date.”

So when will fans see more of Wasp? According to Feige just a few days ago, she will definitely have a role in Phase 3 of the MCU. The studio head then went into a bit more detail with SlashFilm to reveal it won't be in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

“It’s a good question, and it will certainly be in phase three. Where exactly in phase three I’m not sure, but it won’t be in Civil War.
“She was included in early versions of Civil War but there are so many characters in Civil War that we didn’t want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, ‘I’ve got the costume now’, and she flies out. With Ant-Man, and I’m not saying thats what Ant-Man does in the movie, but we already know him, we’ve already seen him. We haven’t seen her as Wasp and we don’t want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time, and seeing her dynamic with Scott in a way it could play out, so we’re saving it. But its going to be in Phase three for sure.”

Only time will tell when Wasp will show up fully suited and ready for action. Logic says it'll be in the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR movies but hopefully she will get some more screen time before the big ensemble films.
