ANT-MAN: Marvel Studios Head Talks About Hope van Dyne's Future

This post contains spoilers for ANT-MAN.

Opening weekend for ANT-MAN has come and gone. Unfortunately, its low opening weekend tally — per Marvel Studios' film release standards — doesn't seem to scream sequel or prequel so it's more likely Ant-Man fans will see the tiny hero in supporting roles of other MCU films.

In fact, actor Paul Rudd was already confirmed to appear in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and that was also teased in the second credits scene at the end of ANT-MAN. Also teased in the first credits scene was that a new Wasp was coming into Marvel's Phase 3 as well.

Hope van Dyne actor Evangeline Lilly has already confirmed she did sign a multi-picture deal with the studio like all other main cast actors do, and studio president Kevin Feige spoke with Yahoo! Movies teasing that more Wasp is coming very soon.

“[Wasp is] going to be certainly a part of our Phase 3. It is going to be a very important moment, and — spoiler alert! — we see that suit for the first time, and her father now is finally giving it to her and realizes that he can’t hold her back from what is essentially her destiny. It's going to be a very big part of one of our upcoming films."

In ANT-MAN, Hank Pym holds back Hope from taking on the mantle of and wearing the Ant-Man suit because he is protecting her. This is due to the unfortunate event that occurred years prior when Hope's monther, Janet, sacrificed herself to save the world and was lost to the Quantum Realm. Pym then realizes the work his late wife and he were doing on a new Wasp suit was actually for Hope. And in that credit scene Hope couldn't be happier about it!

More Wasp is coming so get ready for not one, but two tiny heroes in Phase 3.
