INDIANA JONES 5 Release Rumor Claims 2018 Target but Producer Frank Marshall Says No Discussions Yet
This is a classic case of a rumor saying one thing and a producer saying another. Perhaps producer Frank Marshall's brief comments about INDIANA JONES 5 might say more than he's letting on because they are so brief.
In Hollywood a creator should never show his/her hand when it comes to future film projects. Even though Marhsall's wife Kathleen Kennedy is running Lucasfilm, he should know a little something-something about Indy's next adventure especially after Kennedy confirmed that more Indiana Jones will happen, back in May.
The point here is that while the next Indy movie will eventually happen a new rumor from AintItCool.com says Lucasfilm has targeted a December 2018 release for INDIANA JONES 5. Then Marshall was quick to debunk any and all Indy rumors that are online right now, via SlashFilm.
"No, There've been no discussions on that so... we've had no discussions on Indy 5 to date."
Okay, but that comment about Indy seems excessively short. This is just some conjecture but sometimes the shorter the response, the bigger the discussions are behind closed doors. (Or this is just the side of me that tends to think things are not what they appear when responses are so short.)
Regardless of what Marshall says, INDIANA JONES 5 is coming at some point down the road. Whether its in December 2018 or not remains to be seen but there's no doubt in my mind conversations about Indy are becoming more and more frequent at Disney and Lucasfilm because Disney bought the studio for two reasons: 1.) For the Star Wars franchise and 2.) For the Indiana Jones franchise.
