GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Secures Marvel Studios' No. 4 Worldwide Spot, Surpasses THOR: THE DARK WORLD

The previously unknown Marvel comic book super hero team, who no one thought would be a blockbuster, keeps on moving up Marvel Studios' in-house top grossing movie chart. Last weekend Guardians of the Galaxy moved into No. 3 on Marvel Studios' domestic box office, right behind The Avengers and Iron Man 3. This week it moved up on the studio's worldwide box office list.

Guardians of the Galaxy has now surpassed Thor: The Dark World on its worldwide box office list. Guardians has now brought in over $646 million and is only behind The Avengers ($1.5 billion), Iron Man 3 ($1.2B) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($714 million). James Gunn's space opera has made more worldwide box office cash than Thor: The Dark World ($644M), Iron Man 2 ($623M), Iron Man ($585M), Thor ($449M), Captain America: The First Avenger ($370M) and Incredible Hulk ($263M).

Guardians of the Galaxy will be available for digital HD download on November 18 and will be on store shelves on December 9. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 releases in theaters on July 28, 2017.
