Paul Rudd Has Been Reportedly Cast as Dr. Hank Pym in ANT-MAN

On the coat tails of the release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Marvel Studios seems to have jumped at an opportunity to create some buzz for its own 2015 film, Ant-Man, by reportedly signing one of the sequels supporting actors.

According to TheWrap, Anchorman 2 co-star Paul Rudd has agreed to the role of Dr. Hank Pym in Ant-Man. This corroborates The Daily SuperHero's own report from the end of November stating the studio really wanted the actor for a role in Ant-Man. TheWrap wrote:

"After months of speculation, Paul Rudd has landed the lead in Marvel’s 'Ant-Man' and is now in negotiations to play Hank Pym, multiple sources have told TheWrap."

And it appears Rudd has been changing his physique during recent appearances to support the Anchorman sequel's release, too. TheWrap also wrote:

"In recent interviews to promote 'Anchorman 2' as well as his recent stint hosting 'Saturday Night Live,' Rudd has appeared noticeably slimmer, and sources tell TheWrap that’s because he’s training for the physical role of Ant-Man."

Rudd's reps and Marvel Studios have yet to comment on this report but if Rudd's recent reactions to being questioned about Ant-Man have been any indication, see related story link below, he's been in negotiations for the role for the past week-plus. Ant-Man is out in theaters on July 31, 2015.
