Marvel Studios' Desire to Land Actor Paul Rudd in ANT-MAN is For Dr. Henry Pym Role; Filming to be in Atlanta?

Back on November 5, one of The Daily SuperHero's insiders told me Marvel Studios really, really wanted actor Paul Rudd to play a role in Ant-Man but the looming release of Anchorman 2 could be used to leverage an even better deal. The fact of the matter, per the source, was the Anchorman sequel would make Rudd's star shine brighter in Hollywood and before signing a multi-picture deal with Marvel, Rudd wanted the best deal possible for the long term of the role.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, not only is The Daily SuperHero's report confirmed about Marvel's desire to land Rudd for Ant-Man but THR has reported that it's for the role of Dr. Hank Pym. However, whether or not actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt—who was also rumored to be up for a role in Ant-Man—is still in the running for another role in the Marvel film remains to be seen. The Hollywood Reporter also says Marvel is currently looking for a female actor to play "...Pym's 30-ish girlfriend."

In related Ant-Man news, writer/director Edgar Wright told ScreenDaily Ant-Man will not be filming in the United Kingdom because studio space is filled up. Because of this, a new rumor report by the fanboy website Latino-Review states their sources have told them Ant-Man may film in Atlanta.

Ant-Man releases in theaters on July 31, 2015.
