BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Rumor Resurfaces: Is Bryan Cranston Still Targeted For Lex Luthor Role?

Back in August a rumor hit the mill so hard it sounded to good to be true. It was that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was in the running for the coveted role of Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman. Then, in September, Cranston spoke about the rumor and never really said if it was fact or fiction and simply said that he's taking a few months off.

Well a few months have passed and the rumor mill has churned up the 'Cranston as Luthor' rumor once again. This time it's per the editor-in-chief of AMC's movie news John Campea, who took to Twitter to state he's heard from two untested sources Cranston is back in the running for the role. With Joaquin Phoenix, who has been recently rumored for the role, out of the running to be Luthor.

"Take this with a giant grain of salt because I've never heard news from either of these sources before and I'm not sure I buy it.... But...
"What I've been told by both sources is that although it wasn't true before when it was rumored a few months ago...
"Is that it's not Phoenix, but Bryan Cranston. Again, not sure I buy it, but 2 sources claim Cranston is Lex Luthor. 2 untested sources..."

Campea then says, again, to take this as rumor and not treat it as a news story.

"Take it for what it's worth. A Christmas eve rumor. Let's see if it's actually true. News sites, don't treat this like a story please."

Definitely take it for what it's worth but it's still worth noting that Cranston's name might still be in play as Lex Luthor too. And many fans would love to have him as this villain over multiple films in DC movie universe.
