Bryan Cranston Talks Lex Luthor Rumors But Never Says if it's Fact or Fiction

Sometimes Internet rumors have their way of working themselves into becoming reality. This happened most recently when rumors hit the web that director Michael Bay was looking to cast Mark Wahlberg as his lead in Transformers 4. Both worked together on Pain & Gain, and one thing led to another and Bay liked the rumor so much he actually cast Wahlberg as his Transformers 4 lead.

So it happens every once in a blue moon but not often.

The newest (and hottest) rumor over the past week is one that started at a questionable source saying Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was cast as Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel to play opposite of Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman. But this was a pure rumor without any solid backing to it or confirmation from any of the big trade websites, or by Warner Bros.

Luckily, the Boston Globe managed to catch up with Cranston and the actor addressed these Luthor rumors head-on. Kind of...

"Six [movie deal]? This is all news to me.
"I think I’ll relax the rest of the year. There’s some irons in the fire, things that people are talking about, but nothing is set."

With Breaking Bad coming to a close in a few weeks, Cranston deserves some time off but that won't happen until he is done with his portrayal as President Lyndon B. Johnson in the American Repertory Theater production of All the Way, which begins previews on September 13. Then after that Cranston is going to sit in the director's chair for an episode of ABC's Modern Family.

Both of those projects will happen before the calendar year concludes, along with time to relax the remainder of this year. Although with the Batman/Superman movie set to start production in early 2014 in Detroit, Cranston still never addressed the rumor of being signed on to play Luthor. Not to mention the "some irons in the fire" comment is a clear sign some things are brewing for Cranston's acting future in 2014 but nothings official yet.

Could this be another case of an Internet rumor fueling the casting process? Maybe. Share your thoughts on this over on The Daily SuperHero's Facebook page by clicking right here to go there.
