CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER to Feature National Memorials During Washington D.C. Filming

Marvel Studios has packed their belongings and boarded a jet to spend this week at the nation's capital to shoot scenes for next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. With the sequel's story based in D.C., Marvel has been using Los Angeles and will start using Cleveland next week (and for a month) to act as the capital as well.

Not many details have been provided, regarding the D.C. location shoots, with the exception of reports that some scenes of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge were shot last week.

"The Theodore Roosevelt Bridge plays an integral role in the storyline," the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development said, via CBM. "Aerial photography will be used to capture various angels of the bridge. While in the nation’s capital the production company will film other iconic sites."

According to a source in the nation's capital, the studio will also be filming scenes of several national memorials this week. No dates were provided but stated that the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial were two locations. The source made it clear that this information "cannot be more detailed due to a higher power."

Fair enough. We don't want to anger the Mouse. Or the President. Or S.H.I.E.L.D. (Wink.)

So in other words, if you are in D.C. this week there is a very good chance you could see film crews shooting footage across town of what the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development has called "iconic sites" for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Both the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials are iconic.

Do not worry if you think the memorials could be closed during any location shoots. "Filming will not affect any visitation to our monuments and memorials," Robbin Owen, Chief Division of Permits Management for the U.S. National Park Service, told us.

Stay tuned as The Daily SuperHero is your source for information on Captain America: The Winter Soldier when it comes to, and starts shooting in Cleveland.
