The Avengers: Do You Really Want to See or Hear About All the Special Features Online Before it Hits Stores?

In today's modern world of a 24-hour news cycle, and all the websites that cover the same content, anything and everything could be considered news. But what about when studios release videos and information about all those beloved special features on Blu Ray and DVD releases of your favorite theatrical movies?

Take The Avengers release on September 25 as an example.

Right now you can go to nearly every movie and comic book website and see at least one (or more) post about the special features from The Avengers. This is obviously info released by Disney and Marvel in order to create a buzz for the release of their movie and to sell a crap-ton of copies.

Let's be honest in saying that the No. 3 movie of all-time both domestically and Internationally really doesn't need a buzz to sell a ton of Blu Rays and DVDs since everyone who went to the theater is sure to buy themselves a copy as well. But the mystery and allure of buying the movie and kicking back to spend a few hours watching all the deleted scenes, documentaries, gag reels and whatever other features are on it are getting diluted by the studios anymore and that's just not cool.

It's obviously all about marketing but how about keeping some of the special features a secret for when you buy it? Otherwise, what's the point of even having special features on a store bought copy anymore?

Just something to ponder and that's starting to bother this writer more and more in this Information Age.
