BLACK PANTHER Has Second Biggest Domestic Box Office Second Weekend Ever; Surpasses $700 Million Worldwide

To any remaining BLACK PANTHER doubters out there, the box office staying power of BLACK PANTHER in domestic theaters is very real. In its second weekend of release, the Marvel Studios movie became the second biggest weekend earner ever taking in $108 million. Only STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS did better in its second domestic weekend of release with $149 million.

BLACK PANTHER has took in over $400 million in the domestic box office already making it the studios' fifth highest grossing film behind THE AVENGERS ($623M), AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON ($459M), IRON MAN 3 ($409M), and CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR ($408M). Every one of these four films above have earned over $1 billion in the worldwide box office.

Speaking of worldwide, BLACK PANTHER has earned over $304 million and has already pulled in $704 million worldwide.

BLACK PANTHER surpassed the worldwide total of DOCTOR STRANGE, which took in $677 million, and currently sits at 10th place on the Marvel Studios' all-time worldwide box office gross list with its $704 million; right behind CAPTAIN AMERICAN: THE WINTER SOLDIER and its $714 million.

BLACK PANTHER has seen a tremendous amount of positive word-of-mouth and sees no signs of slowing down here in the states as it has taken in more box office cash domestically than Internationally so far, a feat that hasn't been done with a Marvel Studios films since 2010's release of IRON MAN 2 took in just a little bit more in its domestic release than it did in its International box office numbers.
