BLACK PANTHER Becomes Only the Fifth Movie Ever to Take in Over $200 Million in Domestic Opening

The official numbers are in and Marvel's BLACK PANTHER took in even more than yesterday morning's estimate of $194 million.

BLACK PANTHER officially came in just over $201 million in its 3-day domestic box office opening weekend. This is just the fifth film to ever take in over $200 million in its opening behind only STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS ($247M), STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI ($220M), JURASSIC WORLD ($208M), and THE AVENGERS ($207M).

That's some amazing company for Marvel's King of Wakanda.

In its 4-day President's Day weekend box office cume, BLACK PANTHER will be pushing $235 million. The previous February holiday weekend record holder DEADPOOL, and its $152 million in 2016, has fallen.

Overseas, the movie has taken in over $169 million for a worldwide total of $404 million.

Word-of-mouth is strong with this film and look for it to propel BLACK PANTHER to continue filling theater seats through this upcoming weekend, too.
