This should come as no surprise to anyone who knows about the troubled past of Fox's attempt to bring the Cajun mutant to the big screen in his solo X-Men spin-off movie. That's right... GAMBIT is reportedly not going into production this spring in Louisiana, according to the website OmegaUnderground, via ComicBook.
This report comes on the heels of the news that GAMBIT lost director Gore Verbinski; the third director the film project has lost over the past few years. As well as a report that its release date was pushed back from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019.
With Disney announcing their plans to buy Fox's movie assets, and more, back in December it seems more evident than ever a GAMBIT solo movie will most likely never come to fruition. That is until Disney's Marvel Studios has their chance to use the character in their Marvel Cinematic Universe sometime in the future after Disney's deal to acquire Fox's assets is complete.
Sorry Gambit fans... again... but this movie is back into movie development purgatory without a director... again.
