SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Takes in $70 Million in China Debut and Has Now Made $823 Million Worldwide


Sony and Marvel Studios have been patiently awaiting the box office release of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING in China. This weekend it finally happened to the tune of an estimated $70 million in ticket sales pushing the first solo Spidey movie based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to $823 million worldwide. This moves SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING past the $816 million WONDER WOMAN has made to become 2017's sixth highest grossing film (so far).

At $823 million, Homecoming is now No. 6 on Marvel Studios' worldwide gross ranking list behind  GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. Here's a look at the studios' current Top 10 list of worldwide earners, via BoxOfficeMojo:


The current worldwide tally also moves SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING to the No. 2 spot for Spider-Man live action movie, only behind the $890 million SPIDER-MAN 3 earned in 2007.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING releases on digital HD on September 26 and will be available in stores on October 17.
