MAN OF STEEL 2: Warner Bros. Might be Eyeing a Former X-Men Director

Chalk this report up as rumor for right now because there is no confirmation from any of the big Hollywood trade outlets. Yet, this is some potential good news for Warner Bros. and their DC Extended Universe if it becomes true.

According to Collider, the studio wants director Matthew Vaughn to helm the Superman sequel to MAN OF STEEL and they have had some form of early preliminary talks. Vaughn is no stranger to the superhero movie genre as he directed X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

If Vaughn lands in the DCEU for MAN OF STEEL 2 it would be a huge win for Warner Bros. because Zack Snyder's version of Superman has not been well received due to Superman's somber vision (and lack of smiling). Vaughn could be exactly what is needed for the character and he would be be able to inject the opposite of how Snyder has portrayed Superman in MAN OF STEEL and BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

If any of this is true, MAN OF STEEL 2 could be a form of a "soft reboot" for the iconic hero, which is badly needed right about now. (There is still hope for Superman in JUSTICE LEAGUE seeing as how the studio is trying to keep his story arc a secret.)
