Back in May a rumor hit the web claiming a HARLEY QUINN spin-off movie, also starring DC's Birds of Prey, was in development by Margot Robbie after she fell in love with the character. Then in August, right before SUICIDE SQUAD released in theaters, an insider told DailySuperHero.com Warner Bros. was waiting to move forward on the HARLEY QUINN spin-off until they saw reactions to Robbie's performance in SUICIDE SQUAD from the fanbase. (Unless you've been under a rock for several months, it was was a fantastic fan reaction.) In September, it was reported how Robbie will be a producer on the spin-off which is pretty much a confirmation things were moving forward on the spin-off without Warner Bros. or DC Films confirming it.
Today, TheWrap is reporting the HARLEY QUINN spin-off — which they are referring to as the HARLEY QUINN / BIRDS OF PREY movie — has found itself a writer. Christina Hodson has reportedly been brought onto the project to work on its script. A newer screenwriter in Hollywood, Hodson was the one who allegedly cracked the story for the Transformers franchise's first spin-off movie, BUMBLEBEE, while she was in Paramount's Transformers writers room last year.
Hodson is well on her way to becoming the spin-off whisperer.
