Supergirl Season 2 Episode 2 Review: The Last Children of Krypton

Kara has gotten used to Clark being in National City. Together, they've been kicking butt and taking names all over town, much to Hank's chagrin. The pod man is still unconscious but his body is seemingly try to repair itself using the electrical energy at the DEO. Superman excuses himself when Hank makes it clear he isn't needed. The alien testosterone overload is astounding. They might as well start making their territory.

Kara's family night is interrupted due to Corbin aka Metallo is fully up and operational as he is put on the streets by Cadmus. Posing as a suicidal jumper, he lures Superman and Supergirl to him revealing him fully powered by Kryptonian.

Superman and Supergirl barely escape and make their way back to the DEO. Hank's and Superman's fight about Kryptonite being in the hands of the enemy ends before it begins as Cadmus announces itself to the city in its creepy propaganda ad against Superman and Supergirl. Reminder this is the same organization that is holding Jeremiah Danvers hostage.

Superman and Hank go to the fortress of solitude to get more information on Metallo, while newly hired Winn gets to show his worth by creating upgrades to their super suits for extra protection. Meanwhile, Kara begins her first day as a reporter and meets her new boss Snapper Carr is going into the toilet. Snapper, a genius, but cynical journalist, immediately dismisses Kara and refuses to acknowledge her as part of his team without earning a spot. Which has Cat reminding her that she needs to stand up for herself if she wants her job.

Clark is just not winning friends anywhere. He's worn out his welcome with not only with Hank, but also with Alex. Alex flips when Kara suggest moving to Metropolis with Clark when she is overwhelmed with Cat Grant announcing her departure. Kara is being a little drastic. She puts Clark on a pedestal and doesn't remember the fact that for most of her life on earth he wasn't there. This is vocalized by Alex, but their fight is put on hold.

Metallo is out again except this time the real threat is Metallo 2. They've experimented on another man and this time put him in Superman's home, Metropolis, to wreak havoc.

Alex and Winn team yo to find out who is the mole in the DEO that has Kryptonite to Cadmus. Alex finds the agent and is led directly to the Lead Evil Scientist who confirms they have Jeremiah. Alex escapes with help from Kara and they form a plan to take out Metallo 1 and Metallo 2.

Superman and Supergirl split up with help. Supergirl takes out Corbin aka Metallo 1 with the help of her sister. In the meantime, Hank and Superman take out Metallo 2.

Kara gets gutsy and hands in a story. It isn't the best, but it makes Snapper agree to teach her. I have a feeling this is going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.

In the end, Hank comes through and gives up the Kryptonite the DEO has for the safety of Superman and Supergirl. After an emotional goodbye with everyone (mostly Winn), Superman returns to Metropolis.

The best scene was probably when they recreated the "Crisis on Infinite Earth" cover when Superman brought Supergirl back to be DEO. It was beautifully done and a great promotional picture for the show.

Winn is definitely finding his place in the DEO. He is still excitable and and eager but he is proving his worth on the team. Also, did James pop in for like two minutes just to take over Cat's job? I don't know. It seems a bit random. I imagine there are more qualified candidates to lead a mega media conglomerate.

The pod man finally wakes up at the very end only to try and strangle our heroine. Obviously, he's in shock or lacking in manners. With all the tension between the Kryptonians and Cadmus, I imagine his awakening will cause some trouble with the DEO and the higher ups come next week.
