George Lucas is Not Involved With INDIANS JONES 5 Script and Filming Could Start in October 2017

The only things we really know about Disney's first Indiana Jones franchise movie, since purchasing Lucasfilm in 2012, is that actor Harrison Ford will return, the movie will release on July 19, 2019, Steven Spielberg will direct and David Koepp is currently writing its script.

One thing just debunked is something Spielberg said back in June which was that he was re-teaming with creator George Lucas for INDIANA JONES 5. This information had many Indy fans on the fence about another adventure in this franchise seeing as how INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL was quite the letdown, even though it made lots of profits in the box office.

Well, it's time to set the record straight and Koepp confirmed to Collider that Lucas is involved in the script.

“He’s not, to my knowledge. I’ve had no contact with him.”

Koepp also thinks INDIANA JONES 5 could start filming as early as October 2017, but also says it depends on Spielberg's busy schedule.

"So I think October [2017] — I hope, I hope so. We’ll see. That’s a hard one to answer.”

Finally, Koepp said his script is coming along nicely. He says the fifth movie in the popular franchise will in fact follow the path of its previous movies where Dr. Jones will be after an artifact (MacGuffin) which will move the story and plot of INDIANA JOES 5 forward.
