SUICIDE SQUAD is Tracking Close to a DEADPOOL Sized Domestic Opening Weekend

The worldwide release of SUICIDE SQUAD is coming up fast. And while August 5 can't get here soon enough, the first box office tracking for Warner Bros. and DC Films' next addition to their DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is looking like it might be as big as the $132 million DEADPOOL took in earlier this year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, SUICIDE SQUAD is tracking for a estimated $125M domestic opening. Not as much as the $166M BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE took in this past March, but this marks a huge take for the new DCEU movie.

The fact that Harley Quinn and the Joker are on the big screen for the first time ever has a lot to do with this big projection because there is genuine excitement to see these two together. Not to mention the fact that Batman will have a role (albeit small) in the movie as well.

With the movie still a few weeks out from release, this number could go up a bit and it seems like the $135-$140M range might be where it ends up right before its release. Especially after its huge presences at San Diego Comic-Con next week where the hype will be amped up 1000-percent.

Please Note: As of the publishing of this post no predictions as to its opening International weekend has been provided.
