Let's Talk About the Avengers After the Fallout From CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

***This post contains SPOILERS for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.***

So you've seen CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR but now you might have some questions on where the Avengers are at after the events of this movie.

In fact, there are two new Avengers teams which were created as a result of the film. It's pretty much like the whole 'Team Cap' and 'Team Iron Man' concepts have evolved into two totally different Avengers teams.

First, let's start with Tony Stark and his Avengers team. Using the comic book universe as reference — although the comics are loosely adapted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) — the 'Mighty Avengers' were the official sanctioned Avengers team led by Iron Man and Carol Danvers, who was known as Ms. Marvel at the time. Another notable hero on this comic book team, who is relevant to the MCU, is the Wasp.

Leading into AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 1, which will be retitled per the Russo brothers, this team could also consist of Spider-Man, since Peter Parker and Tony hit it off in Civil War. However, it is not known if Parker has signed the Sokovia Accords.

This 'Mighty Avengers' team roster would be made up of Iron Man, War Machine, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel and Vision. The Russos recently hinted that Captain Marvel may appear in the next Avengers movie so it makes perfect sense for Carol Danvers (as Ms. Marvel first) to be introduced here, leading up to and before she becomes the much more powerful Captain Marvel in her solo movie.

It should also be assumed that Stark will try to recruit Doctor Strange onto this registered Avengers team, too.

Now let's look at Steve Rogers' 'Secret Avengers' team which is implied to have it's base of operations within the confines of Wakanda and under the protection of T'Challa, King of Wakanda and its protector as the Black Panther.

In Wakanda, Steve can get himself a replacement shield due the nation being the source of vibranium. And while the brainwashing to Bucky is attempted to be removed, T'Challa can order a new and more powerful vibraniun bionic arm to be made for him.

It can also be assumed that the Black Panther helped Steve infiltrate and free Ant-Man, Falcon, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye from the Raft. This is the real Avengers team in the eyes of Steve and he created a similar underground team called the 'Secret Avengers' in the comic universe. They have no government panel to answer to and they can decide what is really a threat and what is not. Just as Steve likes it.

Sure these two factions of the Avengers will come together to fight off Thanos in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 2, also to be retitled, but the possible set-up here is that the next Avengers movie will see two teams operating independently of each other. An interesting dynamic in the next Avengers movie, for sure, because fans have yet to see two fully operational, yet totally different, Avengers teams on the big screen.
