How CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Sets Up the Solo BLACK PANTHER Movie

***This post contains SPOILERS for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. You've been warned.***

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is finally in U.S. theaters and it is the one of the best examples in film of how to introduce new characters. Specifically, intros of Spider-Man and Black Panther.

Actor Chadwick Boseman plays T'Challa, Prince King of Wakanda, who is also the Black Panther. While not much is really revealed about the Black Panther's suit and his tremendous abilities — both most likely being saved for his solo movie — fans learn that being the Black Panther is a mantle which has been passed down for generations to one who is worthy of being the protector of Wakanda.

T'Challa's identity as the Black Panther is not kept under wraps for long as he reveals himself after both Cap and Winter Soldier are detained. This reveal happens after a chase sequence which was a result of an attack during a United Nations meeting where T'Challa's father T'Chaka is murdered and the Winter Soldier is set-up to be his assassin.

Props to Marvel Studios for keeping lots of things about the Black Panther quiet for his own movie but the first credit scene may have been quite revealing as to what may come in BLACK PANTHER.

Cap and Bucky are in Wakanda. Cap is without his shield and Bucky is missing his bionic arm after Iron Man blasted it off during the climatic battle. Bucky tells Cap it is best for him to go back into a cryogenic freeze since he still cannot control himself because there is brainwashing programming for the Winter Soldier still inside his head.

Cap warns Black Panther that if anyone finds out Wakanda has Bucky they will come to take him and T'Challa gives a highly confident answer that won't happen followed by a camera pan to reveal a giant panther statue.

The implication here is there might be a good chance that both Captain America and Bucky could return in BLACK PANTHER seeing as how Cap needs a new vibranium shield — after he left his with Tony Stark after their brutal fight — and Bucky needs a new bionic arm. The possibility of adding both Cap and Bucky into BLACK PANTHER will make fans that much more excited to see the movie.

BLACK PANTHER will begin filming early in 2017 and releases on February 16, 2018.
