Jennifer Lawrence Still Hasn't Decided Her Own X-Men Future Which Means it's Time to Go

Is there anyone more confused as to what they want than Jennifer Lawrence? When signing to play Mystique in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS it was a 3-picture deal. With X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST under her belt and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE set to hit U.S. theaters on May 27, Lawrence's contract with Fox has expired. The same goes for actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult.

But it's Lawrence who seems like she has no clue what she wants to do when it comes to returning to the X-Men movie universe, or not. Let's quickly recap: In March 2015, she said she wouldn't continue after her contract expires. Then, in June 2015, she changed her tune and said she might return. Earlier this year, in March 2016, she went full circle and completed her back-peddling saying she wanted to return.

Now, according to a new X-MEN: APOCALYPSE feature in Entertainment Weekly's latest issue, Lawrence says some stuff that makes her sound confused about if she really wants to return (again).

“Fassbender and McAvoy and I were all talking,” she tells EW, “Like, ‘Will you come back?’ ‘I dunno.’ ‘I’ll come back, if you come back.’ Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn’t come back, none of us are.”

Uh... what? "Fox should be terrified?" Huh?

But wait... this weirdness didn't stop there.

“I would love to come back,” Lawrence says. “I love the fans and I love the character. But then you realize how important your year is, like how important three months out of your year is. I don’t know. I shouldn’t be that honest.”

Does anyone know what any of this really means? Does she really think that if she didn't want to return that Fassbender and McAvoy won't return too because she wouldn't be back? Her comments read like some weirdo talk.

In all honesty, Lawrence just feels like she's done with the X-Men and Mystique role and you'll probably get the same feeling when you see her performance in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. She felt off, forced and she is not as good as in her last two X-Men movie appearances.

It might be time to just move on from Mystique. Lawrence has been very vocal about her disdain for the blue skin paint and skin tight blue suit. For as much as Mystique is a very popular mutant in the X-Men universe, this is one role that Fox should just consider recasting. Mystique is a shape-shifter, so it's not that hard to explain why she would look a little bit different, if recast.

And if Fassbender, McAvoy and Hoult are all interested in returning, Fox's arms should be wide open even if Lawrence doesn't want to reprise her role.
