While DC Films Tries to Lighten Up, Marvel Studios is Going Edgier and Darker in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Is today opposite day? Reason being is that the last report posted before this was about how Warner Bros. and DC Films have allegedly taken SUICIDE SQUAD to reshoots to add more fun and funny. And now this post is about how CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will be Marvel Studios' darkest film yet.
While speaking with SFX Magazine, directors Anthony and Joe Russo confirmed they're taking the Marvel Cinematic Universe darker than seen before.
"Tonally, this is unlike any Marvel movie we've seen before," Joe said. "It's certainly got more edge and, on an emotional level, darker things happen in this movie than people have experienced in other Marvel films."
"In our own minds we always thought of The Winter Soldier as a political thriller, and we think of Civil War as a psychological thriller," Anthony added. "So they're related in tone and texture, but there is a different central dynamic at work."
Obviously, Civil War won't be literally as dark as BATMAN V. SUPERMAN but emotionally it will be right up there.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR releases on May 6.
