LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: An Anti-Hero Cowboy, a Goatee and a Ton of Character Promos

So I was wrong, I admit defeat. Despite my prediction in my last article, The CW has released even more info on the ever anticipated show, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (LoT). As the premiere date gets closer, The CW has handed out a few more breadcrumbs for us to follow until we get to January 21. Let’s give the latest releases a breakdown.

So here’s the thing. Jonah Hex got announced for this upcoming season of LoT by Marc Guggenheim, “...[I]f you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it.” But the Jonah Hex movie was not good. No ifs, ands, or buts. The movie was bad and his paranormal powers were just weird, but Josh Brolin is still talented and Jonah Hex is still a great character. If they can nail the portrayal of Hex with whatever actor it may be, this could open a huge door for DC television when it comes to predominantly failed DC characters we’ve already been exposed to in various sources of entertainment.

Hex could also be extremely crucial to the story. His surroundings of the Old West show that the LoT creative minds are really taking no shortcuts when it comes to establishing vast moments in time that the team will travel to. Hex is a character that carries a very old school mindset and a black and white personality. There are criminals and people who need protecting to him, and not much else. That character mixed in and co-existing as a possible Season 2 cast member, with anti-hero criminals, assassins, tech geniuses and reincarnated Gods; things he’s clearly not used too which could make for some fantastic television.

WE HAVE A GOATEE CONFIRMATION! Contrary to what Stephen Amell previously said, we will be seeing an older and goateed Green Arrow plus an older version of The Flash on the upcoming season of LoT. Even though Amell stated he would never wear the goatee as Green Arrow, it has been signed, sealed and delivered by LoT showrunner Phil Klemmer.

This facial hair fact makes me extremely excited, but it also makes me wonder. Why do you think Amell said he would never wear the goatee? Do you think the CW is going to use an older actor for this to truly show an aged Emerald Archer? Keep in mind, it might borderline on the goofy to age an extremely youthful looking Grant Gustin.

And finally...there are promos galore. The CW has released character promos for most of our main characters including Firestorm, White Canary, Captain Cold and Heatwave. They shine a good light on the characters and different vibes they’ll bring to the story. Hopefully, this also means the show is going to focus on each of them individually or as a team and not overload us or only focus on 2-3 of them.

A minute long sneak peak of the pilot was also released, featuring a bar fight with White Canary and the Rouges, Heatwave and Captain Cold. I don’t want to spoil too much, but if you like punching and arm breaking, check it out!
