LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: Examining the Recent Promo Spot and Trailer

With less than a month away until the premiere night of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, the trailers and TV spots for the show are starting to add up. The more clips of this show I see, the more excited and more anxious I get.

The latest trailers released have been a lot of fun and give away a ton of information. It was also recently revealed that actress Ali Liebert would be playing a new female love interest for Sara Lance... something I can’t imagine Nyssa al Ghul will be too happy about. Even with everything we’ve seen so far, I’m willing to bet The CW is going to slow down soon to keep the fan anticipation building.

Until then, lets breakdown the two newest trailers for this hotly anticipated show.

'Change History' - The biggest reveal of this trailer was the inclusion of the Time Masters. They are extremely important to the inner core story of this show and Rip Hunter’s motivations of what he said in the trailer, “to change history.” But most importantly, they may be the most powerful force or entities we’ve seen on the CW’s TV shows next to Vandal Savage or Damien Darhk.

The Time Masters aren’t something we are going to see in the gritty street justice world of ARROW or the very early stages of the time jumping universe in THE FLASH. If their inclusion in the show can work and be taken seriously, the possibilities for DC to tap into new realms and worlds of characters are endless. And of course, we also get the rundown of the team, further emphasizing its importance to the show.

'One Chance' - “Doesn’t a Legend have to be dead?” If there was one word to sum up this newest trailer released by The CW, I would pick 'fun' 10 times out of 10.

This trailer reveals a lot of the feel of the show just as much as what is going to happen or what we are eventually going to see. It seems the CW wanted to get fans excited and pump them up with a big dose of action that we’ll be seeing for the upcoming season.

Right as soon as the trailers starts it becomes clear as we see her tossing knives into the bad guys that Sara Lance will be cutting no corners (bad joke) in her newest venture as a hero. She may also end up being a bigger part of the story then we think. After another new and interesting look at our team of “outcasts,” some great and borderline cinematic action and some witty dialogue delivered by both parts of Firestorm, we get a look at potentially our first antagonist, maybe for the pilot episode.

Even with how versed I like to think I am in DC lore; I can’t for the life of me think of who this character may be. Who knows, this character is someone original to the show? He or she seems important enough since they were greeted with the joke of "Boba Fett" by Captain Cold. It’s a good sign that the CW is going to make an effort to keep this show humorous just as much as a serious save the world tale.

Don’t forget to watch the preview special on The CW January 19th!
