This post may contain potential SPOILERS for the first BATMAN solo movie in the DC Extended Universe. You've been warned.
There's been plenty of reports and rumors over the past few months stating that Warner Bros. is actively developing a BATMAN solo movie starring Ben Affleck; which will be co-written by the actor and DC Comics' CCO Geoff Johns. Affleck is rumored to possibly direct the movie as long as his schedule allows for it.
Warner Bros. has yet to confirm any of this but a new rumor report from the website JoBlo has more possible details about the currently-in-development BATMAN solo movie. First of all, this new rumor claims the film will have its basis from two comic book story arcs, "A Death in the Family" and "Under the Hood." And the main villain reportedly will be Red Hood, who the site claims will be the DCEU's version of the Winter Soldier.
The site reports the following:
"Our sources indicate that Red Hood will be a key player in the first new solo Batman film, which is said to be adapting both the 'A Death in the Family' and 'Under The Hood' storylines from the comics. Essentially, Red Hood is DC’s answer to Marvel’s Winter Soldier; former sidekicks gone evil and seeking a chance at redemption.
...[T]he basic plotline of Affleck’s solo Batfilm is that Jason Todd has returned from the grave as the Red Hood, working in the shadows to make people think he's Batman, while making Batman look like a criminal. At the same time he leaves clues about his identity for Bruce/Batman to ultimately solve, leading to a confrontation that will involve Batman, Red Hood, and yes,The Joker, who will feature as a primary villain alongside Red Hood."
But what about another former Robin, Dick Grayson?
"Naturally, the question will come up about whether or not Red Hood will be referenced as the second Robin and if Dick Grayson, the first Robin will play a role. According to our sources, Grayson is nowNightwing and will be referenced but not seen in Batman V Superman. However, Grayson is expected to show up in the solo Bat-film, assisting Batman in his battle against Red Hood and The Joker."
Please note that all of this should be considered rumor until there is official confirmation, however, JoBlo's recent track record of scoops has been on point.
