Before you being to think, 'Oh man here's more bad news about FANTASTIC FOUR,' let me make sure you understand this is neither truth or fact. It is just word-of-mouth rumor.
First, let's recap some of the alleged issues with FANTASTIC FOUR, and I will use 'alleged' a lot in this post moving forward:
- Alleged production delay due to budget issues. Click here for that story link.
- Alleged issues with director Josh Trank while staying on location in Louisiana and on set. Google these allegations.
- Alleged post-production issues where producer Simon Kinberg had to step in and take over editing the film after shooting ended.
- Alleged script changes that caused lots of reshoots.
- Fox changing the press embargo date. Story link.
This is just a quick breakdown. If you Google search issues surrounding FANTASTIC FOUR, you will easily find all the posts you can possibly read because this movie has not been without some alleged issues.
But getting back to the point of this particular post. According to one of The Hollywood Reporter's writers, over a third of the FANTASTIC FOUR pages had to be rewritten for reshoots.
That clearly paid off. We'll see next Friday if another set of reshoots (up to 40 pages worth, per some) pay off for FANTASTIC FOUR.— Borys Kit (@Borys_Kit) August 2, 2015
The word 'pages' is not clearly described, or was there a source reference, but it is assumed to be referring to the script. On average, a script is somewhere in the ballpark of 90-110 pages in length. If 40 pages had to be rewritten then that is approximately 36-44 percent of the entire thing. That's a lot of change.
Again this is all alleged because nothing has been confirmed and everything has been denied (of course) by producer, director and 20th Century Fox.
Less than a week until fans see FANTASTIC FOUR for themselves and can base their own opinion on it. Will it be good? Will it be terrible? This will be known very soon.
