Day 1 of Disney's D23 Expo has come and gone and while it was coming to a close one thing really stood out to The Daily SuperHero... there was zero signs of X-Men or Fantastic Four anywhere on the main showroom floor.
Before you start to say things like, 'Marvel Studios doesn't own those movie rights, Fox does' or 'Of course Disney wouldn't have movie properties not under their control at their own expo' this is referencing the publishing side of things. On the show floor, there isn't a big Marvel comic publishing presence to begin with but there is enough art and displays throughout where there might be a glimpse of a mutant or Marvel's first family or even Wolverine from the comics.
There isn't. The comic and art presence it dominated by the Avengers and its team members. Again, none of this should come as a surprise because the Avengers franchise is Disney and Marvel Studios' moneymaker.
All conspiracy theories and 'agenda' speculation aside, Wolverine is one of Marvel's biggest heroes and there was no sign of him at all. Even in a big Marvel universe art display photo taken from on show floor below there are no signs of any X-Men or Fantastic Four.
Marvel isn't shying away from the X-Men in their comic book universe as there are plenty of books to choose from, but the lack of any signs of the X-Men or Fantastic Four is hard to ignore when they are nowhere to be found at D23 Expo 2015.
Please note: There may be some merch for X-Men or Fantastic Four available in the Emporiums but these are areas where Disney rents space to vendors to sell their own retail items.
