Where's the Thomas the Tank Engine and ANT-MAN Crossover Toys? Peyton Reed Talks Collaborating With the Toy Group

Last summer Marvel Studios missed a golden opportunity to take advantage of selling a lot of baby Groot merchandise for the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY because they didn't have any available when the film released. It took a few months but they finally started producing a bunch of merch of baby Groot with their licensing partners and they most definitely still sold a lot of it.

This summer it seems like Marvel has done it again by not having any ANT-MAN and Thomas the Tank Engine merch ready for release when the movie opened last weekend. While the demand isn't as high as the demand was for baby Groot merch, there is a demand by some parents who would like a crossover set for their son or daughter so they can reenact the scene in ANT-MAN.

As of the publishing of this post, there is still no word on if there is any ANT-MAN and Thomas merch coming to store shelves. The Daily SuperHero has reached out to both Marvel and Thomas and is still awaiting a response.

In the meantime, director Peyton Reed spoke with FilmSchoolRejects about the collaboration Marvel had with Thomas.

“I believe in Edgar [Wright] and Joe Cornish’s original drafts it was a train set. At some point in the process that predated my involvement it became Thomas. As I came on, they had not secured the rights to Thomas. We had to do this whole thing where we did this presentation for the people who own the rights to Thomas. Thank God they agreed and found it funny, but there were definite stipulations. For example, nobody could be tied to the tracks and run over by Thomas. Thomas couldn’t be doing anything that could be perceived by children as evil Thomas. Thomas had to stay neutral in the battle, which was always our intention. Like anybody, they’re protective of their brand... Thomas was one, because... you could do any kind of toy train, but the personality of that thing and the eyes moving back and forth give it a whole vibe and took it to another level.”

If you're a parent and you're wondering where the ANT-MAN and Thomas crossover toy(s) are then make sure you share this post on social media to spread the word. Hopefully Marvel and Thomas will hear that you want a crossover set for your kids and make one.
