Marvel's AGENT CARTER Hires Actor James D'Arcy as HOWARD STARK Butler, EDWIN JARVIS

So far Marvel fans have known J.A.R.V.I.S. (which stands for Just Another Rather Very Intelligent System) as Tony Stark's digital assistant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who is voiced by actor Paul Bettany. Soon, fans will know what Tony based JARVIS' programming on in Marvel's new television series Agent Carter.

Marvel has officially announced they have cast British actor James D'Arcy in the role of Howard Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis, who was the basis of Tony's creation of JARVIS. In the comics, Edwin Jarvis was the butler at Avengers Mansion but D'Arcy will portray an adapted, much younger version of Jarvis who worked for Howard Stark decades ago.

Via Marvel's press release:

James D'Arcy ("Broadchurch," "Let's Be Cops") will play Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark's butler and an unexpected ally to Peggy Carter, joining the previously announced Chad Michael Murray as SSR Agent Jack Thompson and Enver Gjokaj as Agent Daniel Sousa as they help Peggy (Hayley Atwell) navigate her way through what may be her most dangerous mission yet!
"Marvel's Agent Carter," starring "Captain America's" Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter."

Marvel's Agent Carter is set to premiere during the mid-season break of Agents of SHIELD on ABC.
