Is Marvel Studios Already Restructuring David Bautista's Contract as DRAX THE DESTROYER?

One of the best things to come out of Guardians of the Galaxy was how the character of Drax the Destroyer was written for former wrestler now turned actor David Bautista. His literal portrayal of the character through all the movie's humor was actually funnier than most of the other humor.

Unless you've been unplugged and off-the-grid you should already know that Marvel Studios signs all their actors to multiple picture contracts usually in the amount of 6- to 9-picture deals. While the details of Bautista's multi-picture deal has not been made available, there is a new rumor report claiming his Marvel contract is already being restructured.

"Regarding Batista’s [Bautista's wrestler name] status, Marvel Studios are currently restructuring his contract that will likely see him get more money due to the success of Guardians of the Galaxy. This will also lock Batista in for a number of other Marvel movies. Batista is slated for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as well as the 3rd Avengers movie, where he will have a significant role."

Obviously, Drax will be back for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 since writer/director James Gunn already confirmed a larger role for the character. And if Avengers 3 is being set up to adapt the Infinity Gauntlet comic book story, Drax and his teammates will most likely show up in that film as well. But the thing in question is Bautista and Marvel are already restructuring his contract, which is a bit weird to already be happening after one movie.

Normally, this wouldn't be anything strange but this is Marvel Studios and they are not known to restructure any actor contract unless it has already expired. Actor Robert Downey Jr.'s contract expired so he and Marvel Studios sat down and renegotiated a new contract so he would appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers 3

It's not completely improbably to think that Bautista and Marvel could be restructuring right now but after he's only been in one film? Seems a bit of a stretch since no other actor has restructured so early with his/her respective Marvel Studios contract.

Will Drax be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Avengers 3? Most definitely. Is he restructuring already? Probably not which means all of this could simply be a non-story and just pure rumor.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 releases in theaters on July 28, 2017.
