THOR: THE DARK WORLD Blu Ray Release Date and Special Features Revealed, Includes 'All Hail the King' One-Shot
But first, Thor: The Dark World needs a home release and per Bleeding Cool (via the BBFC) details of the Blu Ray special features are now known. As of right now the release date is not certain but with Captain America: The Winter Soldier releasing on April 4, it can be assumed the Thor sequel will hit store shelves sometime this March.
UPDATE: Marvel has confirmed, via their Thor movie Twitter account, a February 25 release of the Blu Ray combo pack!
Speaking of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, there will be just under a three and a half minute preview of the Cap sequel on the Blu Ray release. If it's anything like the tease for Thor: The Dark World that was on the Iron Man 3 Blu Ray, it will definitely be just a tease without revealing anything new.
Moving on to the single most important part of the Thor: The Dark World Blu Ray release is the announcement of its One-Shot short filmed titled 'All Hail the King.' Previously, we've known that Iron Man 3 actor Ben Kingsley has recently filmed something for Marvel Studios and rumors say it is a new One-Shot. But that same rumor says the Kingsley One-Shot will reveal another Mandarin... the real one this time (for real real). While this is rumor, the title of this new One-Shot included with Thor 2 could lead some to believe that this rumor might be true. The real Mandarin could be the 'King' in the 'All Hail the King' title.
Or it might just reference Kingsley's Trevor Slattery feeling like a 'King' after being hired as the Mandarin. Or maybe a Loki One-Shot with him as (SPOILER ALERT!) the new King of Asgard, as seen in the closing moments of Thor: The Dark World. Or maybe a One-Shot telling how Loki took over the throne from Odin. Lots of speculation in the last few sentences but anything is possible until we get more information on the new One-Shot.
