AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Could Have Major Origin Changes for SCARLET WITCH and QUICKSILVER

Since writer/director Joss Whedon confirmed both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be two new team additions to Avengers: Age of Ultron, the digital world has provided plenty of casting rumors. Currently, it appears that Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the clear-cut leader to land the role of Quicksilver while Saoirse Ronan was reportedly the leading candidate to play Scarlet Witch.

Taylor-Johnson's detailed knowledge of Quicksilver (who will probably be called Pietro instead) and acknowledgment of meeting with Whedon about the role means he'll most likely get the job. But now, Ronan is said to be out of the running for Scarlet Witch (who will probably be called Wanda in the sequel).

According to the website Bleeding Cool, Ronan is out and Elizabeth Olsen is in. Quick side note: Olsen is the younger sister of the Olsen twins. What is even more interesting about the alleged new front-runner for the role of Wanda is that Olsen and Taylor-Johnson are already in next summer's Godzilla reboot. Apparently, Marvel Studios must like that pairing a lot.

Also, it has been reported that Wanda will have a "European accent" which could be a telling sign Whedon is really adapting and changing the origins of both Wanda and Pietro. An adaptation of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch is most likely going to be a drastic one.

This is due to Marvel Studios owning the movie rights to both characters, but 20th Century Fox also has the rights to both. Fox's movie rights is for their mutant origins and Marvel Studios cannot use anything mutant-related in any of their films. So it seems like Marvel fans will get a brand new version of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron since no reference can be made about their mutant abilities and nothing can be said about their father, Magneto, either.

Sounds like a complete reboot for both characters because of the split movie rights deal. Marvel purists need to accept all of this right now because you're not going to get the Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver that you're accustomed to seeing in the pages of Marvel comic books.
