X-Men: Days of Future Past confirmed to have Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart back as Magneto and Professor X

The sequel to X-Men: First Class, which is called X-Men: Days of Future Past, finally has a few cast announcements.

Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to confirm that Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) would both be back reprising their roles from the first film but the announcements did not stop there. Singer also confirmed that there will be two actors playing Professor X and two more playing Magneto!

It is a combination of both old and young since Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy will be Professor X, while Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender will both play Magneto. No word on how much screen time Stewart and McKellen will have and most fans will have their fingers crossed hoping both the young and old versions share some screen time at some point in the movie too.

You might be wondering how this is possible and it is due to the fact Days of Future Past has already been confirmed to have some time travel elements.

Days of Future Past is an attempt to create one single and cohesive X-Men movie universe for Fox by using all the X-Men films to establish a singular continuity. Add in some Sentinels, which have also been hinted at in this movie, and this flick has both star power and sounds to be be very action-packed!
