No New INDIANA JONES Movie From Disney, For Now, Due to Distribution Complications With the Franchise

With all the hype surrounding the Disney hostile takeover acquisition of Star Wars and Lucasfilm, everyone is focused on the franchise from a galaxy far, far away while another huge franchise has gone under-the-radar.

What about Indiana Jones?

“We didn’t ascribe any value to the Indiana Jones franchise due to the encumbrances that exist,” Disney’s Robert Iger said.

You probably read that and said to yourself, "Huh?!" Don't worry, we'll translate that quote.

What Iger means is that the Indy franchise has a distribution deal with Paramount Pictures. So some form of exit strategy would need to be developed in order to give Disney full distribution of all-things Indiana Jones. Unless Disney wants to pay a hefty fee to Paramount, there won't be anything Indy-related for a long time ... and quite possibly ever.

Of course Disney wants to focus on Star Wars right now and honestly after a terrible fourth adventure, Indy fans might just be ready to let the franchise rest in peace anyway. However, never say never in the movie industry since reboots are always a popular route to go with franchises (hint, hint).
