After The Avengers was released in theaters back in May, writer/director Joss Whedon said he would like to see more gender diversity in Marvel Studios' next slate of films and in The Avengers 2 as well.

Seems like things are trending in this gender-friendly direction as Ms. Marvel is being rumored to be targeted for casting by Marvel right now. The studio is targeting both British female actors Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson for the role, per the UK's The Daily Mail.

In case you are not familiar with Ms. Marvel, her name is Carol Danvers and her super power abilities include superhuman strength, speed, stamina and durability, plus she can fly and project and absorb energy too.

Please remember this is only a rumor right now and until Marvel actually confirms this news. No further information has been made available as to if Ms. Marvel would appear in The Avengers 2 or another Phase 2 film in the coming years, so stay tuned.
