Now that the cat is out of the bag and a S.H.I.E.L.D. television show has been announced, Marvel fans everywhere are dying to know more about it.

Joss Whedon will be writing, and maybe directing, the pilot episode and now that he is pretty much overseeing the creative process of Marvel Studios' Phase Two on the big screen, he knows a lot.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Whedon provided some interesting tidbits about the new TV show.

“It's new characters. It needs to be its own thing. It needs to be adjacent [to the MCU] but you don't want to do a show where you're constantly going, 'Iron Man just left, but he was totally here a minute ago.' You want them to do their own thing. Well, what does S.H.I.E.L.D. have that the other superheroes don't? And that, to me, is that they're not superheroes. But they live in that universe. Even though they're a big organization, that [lack of powers] makes them underdogs, and that's interesting to me.”

No further details on if Cobie Smulders will play a rumored big role on the TV show, as we've heard in the past, but information is sure to flow since this series is currently under development.
